Pickup a Spring 2008 Issue
by Matt Fiske on 23 Apr 2008

This issue of The Artemisia is the biggest yet for the magazine. Make sure to pick up a copy at the numerous newsstands around campus, or check it out online. If you pick up the print edition make sure to look at the back cover so you can play The Artemisia SCAVENGER HUNT and win up to $175 in prizes. Better hurry, because you only have until May 30. Good luck!

Hey, the stories are great this issue but the design is still hard to read. Please stop using Courier New as your body text, strike out jump lines and stroke-only headlines. It makes me not want to read anything in this magazine. You guys have picked it up and the stories are getting better but the design is just not approachable. This is not meant to be rude, just one designer to another. Use a grid please and use a legible font, not a monospaced gimmick font.

I appreciate the criticisms. In fact, I have heard similar criticisms of the body copy font before. Understanding that it was a somewhat unconventional choice for body copy, I tested variations of it for readability. Next year's style sheets will undoubtedly be more conventional.
Your post didn't come across as rude, but rather arrogant. Again, I do appreciate criticism and discussion, but your dismissal of the Artemisia's design as half-baked and incompetent was neither.
The pages are built on a consistent 5 column layout. And, I can assure you that the body copy is not Courier New (American Typewriter, FWIW).
