Textbooks Drive Me Insane
by Clarissa León on 24 Jan 2008
Buying books is probably my most favorite and least favorite thing to do when classes start.
First, there's the realization that a 60-page hard-cover book can cost more than $100. Then, there's the realization that you have absolutely no money to buy it. That always hurts. Still, I enjoy buying books and breaking my bank when they are useful and interesting.
If anyone does any research on book buying there are some options. Here are a few that I found.
The first one I found is Renobookexchange.com.This site started from some locals. There is a fee to list your book online but at least you know the people who are selling the book are nearby.
I hope that more people use this site because so far there aren't too many books to choose from (about 12 English books, 10 math books and some random subjects).
The other sites might just save you some big money and also save a tree!
If you go to www.chegg.com you can find your book, hopefully, and then rent your book. Sometimes you save lots of money depending on the book. Also, for every book sold they will plant a tree. When your semester is over you just return the books with the prepaid shipping level that Chegg gives you.
A similar site, is www.bookrenter.com. This site does the same as Chegg and boasts that you can save up to 75 percent on the cost of textbooks.

They carry a lot of international versions of textbooks, so you can get them for less money.
