Existentialism in 120 Pages
by Craig Charboneau on 09 Sep 2007
School is back in session, and for many that means a hefty load of books to thumb through or scan over or not read at all. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be reading for yourself. There are plenty of short books that are easy to pick up and entertain youself with.
The Stranger by Albert Camus is only 120 pages, which makes it a quick read while still maintaining a very powerful story. Translated from French by Matthew Ward, it tells the story of Monsieur Meursault, a man with seemingly no emotions, who gets dragged into a senseless murder and is put on trial for his own character. This is a landmark book for existentialism, and if you don't quite understand the term, you will after you read this book.
